Notice to California CRTPs

We are not currently offering CTEC-approved courses due to a new and ill-conceived CTEC requirement that all course providers must update courses within 90 days of a change in the law. Quality education programs take extensive effort to update, and Pacific Northwest Tax School takes great care to update all of our courses on at least an annual basis. Our school is approved by NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) and has been awarded the Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) by NASBA. The QAS certification is awarded only to education providers who meet strict standards for delivering quality educational programs.

We repeatedly requested clarification from CTEC on what methods it uses to establish whether a course is in compliance with the new 90-day requirement and CTEC was unable or unwilling to provide this information. We have therefore decided to allow our CTEC approval to lapse because the cost of meeting the 90-day update requirement exceeds the revenue our school receives from CRTPs. We may decide to renew our approval at a later time should CTEC decide to apply reasonable standards to its educational providers.

Pacific Northwest Tax School courses continue to qualify California CPAs and EAs for CE credit.
