Vermont CPE Requirments

Pacific Northwest Tax School programs meets CPE requirements of the Vermont Board of Accountancy. Final authority for CPE rests with the Vermont Board of Accountancy. It is the responsibility of each CPA to verify whether CPE programs and sponsors meet Board requirements. A summary of CPE requirements and contact information for the Vermont Board of Accountancy is provided below.

Sponsor Information: The Vermont Board does not require sponsor registration. A program meets board qualifications if it is a formal course of learning, which contributes to the growth of professional knowledge and competence of an individual in the practice of public accountancy, and meets the minimum standards of quality of development and presentation and of measurement and reporting of credits set forth in the National Registry of CPE Sponsors Vermont Board of Public Accountancy Administrative Rules published by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy or similar educational standards as may be established from time to time by the Board.

Renewal Period: 7/31 of odd numbered years.

Ethics Requirement: 4 hours is required each renewal period. Ethics courses may include the AICPA Code of Conduct or Vermont accountancy statutes and rules. Pacific Northwest Tax School does not currently offer an ethics course covering this area of ethics.

CPE Requirement: 80 CPE credits each 2 year reporting period. 8 hrs. must be in Accounting & Auditing

Self-Study: Self-study CPE programs are permitted. The amount of credit to be allowed for correspondence and formal individual study programs (including taped study programs) will be that which is recommended by the program sponsor.
Applicants claiming credit for such correspondence or formal individual study courses are required to obtain evidence of satisfactory completion of the course from the program sponsor. Credit will be allowed in the renewal period in which the
course is completed. Correspondence and formal individual study programs shall constitute no more than 64 hours or 80 percent of the applicable renewal period requirement.

Notice to Members of the National Association of Enrolled Agents: NAEA requires its members to obtain 30 hours of CPE each year. NAEA further requires the CPE be in compliance with IRS guidelines. As an IRS approved sponsor of CPE, our programs meet CPE standards set forth by NAEA.
