Pacific Northwest Tax School programs meet Missouri Board of Accountancy CPE requirements. Final authority for CPE rests with the Missouri Board of Accountancy. It is the responsibility of each CPA to verify whether CPE programs and sponsors meet Missouri Board requirements. A summary of CPE requirements and website link for the Board is provided below.

Sponsor Information: Programs are not pre-approved. Applicants for renewal of a license shall attest on an application provided by the board that they have met the requirements for participation in a program of continuous learning as set forth by the board or contained in the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs jointly approved by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Responsibility for documenting the acceptability of the program and the validity of the credits rests with the applicant who should retain such documentation for a period of five (5) years following completion of each learning activity.

Renewal: 9/30 biennially

Reporting: 12/31

CPE Requirements: An applicant seeking renewal of a license shall have completed no less than one hundred twenty (120) hours of continuing professional education during the three (3)-year period preceding renewal. Effective January 1, 2004, a minimum of twenty (20) hours of continuing professional education (CPE) is required in each calendar year, of which a minimum of two (2) hours of the required twenty (20) hours shall be in the area of ethics.

Ethics Requirement: 2 Hours

Self-Study: To guide participants through a learning process, CPE program sponsors of self-study programs must elicit participant responses to test for understanding of the material, offer evaluative feedback to incorrect responses, and provide reinforcement feedback to correct responses. To provide evidence of satisfactory completion of the course, CPE program sponsors of self-study programs must require participants to successfully complete a final examination with a minimum-passing grade of at least 70 percent before issuing CPE credit for the course. Examinations may contain questions of varying format, (for example, multiple-choice, essay and simulations.) If objective type questions are used, at least five questions per CPE credit must be included on the final examination. For example, the final examination for a five-credit course must include at least 25 questions.

All Pacific Northwest Tax School self-paced online programs meet Missouri Board of Accountancy requirements for self-study. In addtion, our Correspondence Basic Tax Course also meets Board requirements for self-study.
