Louisiana CPE Requirements

Pacific Northwest Tax School programs meet Louisiana CPE requirements. Final authority for CPE rests with the Louisiana Board of Accountancy. It is the responsibility of each CPA to verify whether CPE programs and sponsors meet Louisiana Board requirements. A summary of CPE requirements and website link for the Board is provided below.

Summary of Louisiana Requirements

Sponsor Information: The Board does not have an approval process for sponsors and does not pre-approve continuing professional education (with the exception required ethics CPE).

Reporting Year: The current three year continuing professional education (CPE) reporting period is January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2009.

Self study: Interactive self-study programs shall receive CPE credit equal to the average completion time provided the course developer is registered as an interactive self-study course developer with either the AICPA, NASBA, or a State Society of CPAs, and the developer confirms that the course is an interactive self-study course.

An interactive self-study program is one which simulates a classroom learning process by providing ongoing responses and evaluation to the learner regarding his or her learning progress. These programs guide the learner through the learning process by:

  • Requiring frequent student response to questions that test for understanding of the material presented;
  • Providing evaluative responses and comments to incorrectly answered questions; and
  • Providing reinforcement responses and comments to correctly answered questions.

Pacific Northwest Tax School is registered with NASBA as an approved sponsor of CPE. Our self-paced online programs are interactive however, the standards set forth by the Louisina Board of Accountancy will require upgrades to our programmed responses. We will work to improve our programmed responses in 2010. We will update this page when we believe the interactivity standards required by Louisiana have been achieved.

Pacific Northwest Tax School is not registered with QAS, therefore our non-interactive correspondence CPE programs are not qualifying CPE for Lousiana CPAs.

Ethics: 4 Hours from approved Board-approved courses. Pacific Northwest Tax School offers an ethics course. The course is not approved by the Louisiana Board of Accountancy and should not be taken by CPAs who are trying to meet the 4-Hour ethics requirement.
